Abstract: Starting from esters of 3,4-dihydro-4-oxothieno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-2-ylcarboxylic acids the 4-chloro derivatives were prepared. By reaction with aliphatic and aromatic amines the corresponding esters of 4-alkylamino- and 4-arylamino-thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-2-ylcarboxylic acids were obtained. Only in few cases the ester group reacts to give the carboxylic amids.
