PhD student position in Chemical Physics (01.04.17) with specialization in multiway data analysis.

Project Title:
"The development of a multiway data analysis for chemical and physical data"

Background:
The student will be engaged in the development of multiple hyphenated techniques and chemometric methods for analysis of chemical and physical data. He/she will join the Chemometrics group at Semenov Institute of Chemical Physics RAS (ICP) in Moscow. A major challenge is to utilize the information from multiple and different types of analytical platforms (e.g., NIR spectroscopy coupled with thermogravimetry). Here, state of the art chemometric methods, e.g. the PARAFAC and N-PLS methodology, will be used and where insufficient, new theories and methods will be developed. The studentship will be run in extensive collaboration with international scientific network and the opportunity will exist for the student to spend half time in Germany and France.

Qualifications:
Applicants should hold, or expect to obtain a university degree in Applied Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry. Practical experience in the related areas would be an advantage, though a keen interest and willingness to learn is more essential. Practical experience in computer programming is a merit. The Ph.D. student needs the abilities to study up English for both oral and written communications with collaborators.
